LIGHTCONGRESS ANNOUNCES PANELS FOR 2006 SYMPOSIUM
Stellar lineup of speakers from both coasts to headline unique lighting forum

Poughkeepsie, NY (February 17, 2006) – LIGHTCongress founder Jeff Johnston today announced the 2006 lineup of panelists and moderators for the symposium that will lead four discussions on the current issues and trends facing the lighting industry. The event is slated for March 7 at the Grand Hyatt New York .

“LIGHTCongress truly has a ‘dream team' line-up of panelists this year, comprised of some of the world's leading experts in the lighting and energy industries,” said Johnston, CEO and president of Greystone Partners, organizers of the event. “This esteemed group will not only discuss and debate the most fundamental issues affecting the lighting industry today, but will also explore the future impact of these issues. Whether you're an editor, architect, lighting designer, commercial engineer, student or consumer, there is something for every interest level and preference.”

LIGHTCongress 2006 will feature four primary panels: LEDs: Past, Present & Future ; Energy & Sustainability for Today's Buildings; Light for Health & Vision and Residential ENERGY STAR ® Lighting. Architects can also earn four HSW continuing education credits (CEU) through AIA for attending
this event.

LEDs: Past, Present & Future panel, moderated by Dr. Nadarajah Narendran, Director of Research at the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, will moderate a discussion on recent noteworthy light emitting diode (LED)-based installations and the lighting industry's growing interest in LEDs as the next major light source in our lifetime. Dr. Narendran is widely recognized as one of the top minds in LED research and applications.

The panel will include Dr. Kevin Dowling, vice president, strategy and technology of Color Kinetics; Jim Sloan, president and CEO of SloanLED; Clara Powell, manager of design solutions, Philips; and Dr. Chips Chipalkatti, corporate innovation manager, OSRAM SYLVANIA, Inc.

The Energy & Sustainability for Today's Buildings panel, moderated by Peter Jacobson, lighting specialist for Con Edison, will explore the various forces that are increasingly driving the lighting industry to conserve precious energy while speeding up the process to manufacture and implement “green” sustainable products and technologies. Since 1991, Mr. Jacobson has acted as the corporate liaison for Con Edison to the lighting industry and has been the point person on some of the most spectacular lighting installations in New York City .

The panel includes Kyle Pitsor, vice president, NEMA; Peter Morante, director of Energy Programs at Lighting Research Center (LRC), RPI; Jeff Schwartz, lighting technical specialist for ICF Consulting and Mark Loeffler, lighting and sustainable design director for RETEC Group/Parsons School of Design.

The Light for Health & Vision panel, moderated by Dr. Alan L. Lewis, president of Illuminating Engineers of North America (IESNA), will discuss the affect that light has on human physiology and in enhancing our daily well-being. Dr. Lewis has had an active research career, specializing in the interactions between the environment and visual performance. Dr. Lewis also is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Panelists include: Raymond Yeager, senior project engineer and acting manager of Holophane; Mariana Figueiro, program director at The Lighting Research Center, RPI; Dr.John Bullough, scientist at the Lighting Research Center, RPI and Dr. Neall Digert, director of commercial market development, Solatube International, Inc.

The Residential ENERGY STAR Lighting panel, moderated by David Shiller, ENERGY STAR marketing manager for Residential Light Fixtures, will explore the increasing ramifications in building in energy efficient lighting into existing and new residential structures. Mr. Shiller spearheaded the creation of the ENERGY STAR Advanced Lighting Package for New Construction, as well as the development of self-ballasted, pin-based lamps.

Speaking about new technologies and applications with respect to this trend will be Patricia Rizzo, manager of the Residential Lighting Program at The Lighting Research Center, RPI; and Carlos Villalobos, product manager at Wattstopper.

There will be a question and answer period at the conclusion of each panel, and each moderator and panelist will be available for interviews throughout the day.

LIGHTCONGRESS 06 OFFERS CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS TO INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS

Poughkeepsie, NY (February 16, 2006) – On March 7, attendees of LIGHTCongress, the premiere lighting symposium, will have the opportunity to receive 4 learning units through the Continuing Education System (CES) of The American Institute of Architects (AIA).

“This is a great opportunity for industry professionals to further their education,” said Jeff Johnston, founder of LIGHTCongress. “They can learn from the top names in the lighting field while receiving valuable credits that can be applied to their professional memberships and state requirements.”

The AIA created the Continuing Education System to improve and revitalize the architecture profession by supporting education and participation in professional learning activities. The program also allows members to fulfill a requirement for AIA membership.

Premier lighting symposium returns to Grand Hyatt New York
