FIFTH LIGHTCONGRESS ANNOUNCES PANELS FOR 2007 SYMPOSIUM
Stellar program lineup scheduled for unique lighting forum
Poughkeepsie, NY (Jan. 15, 2007) - LIGHTCongress, the world's premier
media symposium for the lighting industry and now in its fifth year,
will feature three panels at this year's forum, announced J. Jeffrey
Johnston, LIGHTCongress founder: Designing with Light, Sustainability
and Energy Efficiency, and Daylighting and Health. The symposium is
slated for March 13 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.
"The panels at LIGHTCongress have always promoted lively and provocative
discussion by exploring the most current issues and trends facing the
lighting industry, and this year will be no exception," said Johnston.
"Through design innovation, environmental and energy-focused
developments, and the recognition of light's effect on health, the
lighting industry is clearly on the cusp of redefining the concept of
lighting as we know it."
"Whether you're an editor, architect, lighting designer, commercial
engineer, student or consumer, there is something for every interest
level and preference at LIGHTCongress," Johnston added.
The one-day event features three panels comprised of lighting leaders
from engineering, design, architecture and academia:
Designing with Light
Lighting is much more than a tool used to help us find our way in the
dark - it can create a mood as well as make a statement. This panel will
explore the possibilities of interior, exterior and architectural
lighting solutions as they relate to today's design industry -
incorporating products, lamps, systems and trends into the messages.
Sustainability and Energy
Lighting is a major component of the energy used in both residential and
commercial buildings. New developments that make lighting more energy
efficient, thereby reducing energy costs and promoting sustainability,
will be addressed in this panel.
Daylighting and Health
Lighting has become an integral part of the medical and scientific
communities as it increasingly simulates the natural, white light found
in nature. This panel will discuss the affect that light has on human
physiology and in enhancing daily well-being. Products and systems will
be brought into the discussion to explore the integration of natural and
artificial light - the realities, the cost, the future.
